We recognize that battling geriatric loneliness is not a simple task. There have been organizations and pieces of legislations in place for the issues. Geriatric Guardians want to add to this network to fight geriatric loneliness.

The Campaign to End Loneliness believe that people of all ages need connections that matter. It is an England based campaign that aims to address loneliness in the British geriatric population. The campaign is funded by National Lottery Community Fund which starts its "The Loneliness Project" that has a worldwide influence.

The campaign aims to ensure that

  1. People most at risk of loneliness are reached and supported

  2. Services and activities are more effective at addressing loneliness

  3. A wider range of loneliness services and activities are developed

One of our prevention models for sustainable connectedness is inspired by this campaign.

Justice in Aging.png

Some elderly like any age group fall in minority and marginalized groups due to ethnicity, socio-economic status, language barriers or sexual orientations. Justice In Aging brings the support of lawyers to bring the aging community, especially these that are marginalized the justice they deserve. Many of these communities tend to be in the margins as well when it comes to accessing mental health care and we hope that this organization will bring us to this next step in advocating for those in the margins.

NHCOA is a national organization hoping to advocate for the growing Hispanic population within the United States. There will be an increasing amount of elderly within the next few years that will be elderly and we need an organization like this to know how to advocate for this particular community through their specializations and knowledge. Cultural competency is important to provide the most effective mental health care.
